man in the oranges

There are certain words that lulu says that totally crack me up, and I just can't bring myself to correct her.
It's so sweet when she mixes up her verbs & nouns.
One of my favourite "mistakes" is "man-in-the-oranges" her way of saying mandarin oranges.
I even find myself thinking..oh I had better pick up some man-in-the-oranges at the grocery store today.
Not to be mistaken with flirting with some guy in the produce section.
She also says opimeal- for oatmeal. which is also hilarious.
I know I'm supposed to teach her to pronounce things correctly- which for the most part I do,
but man-in-the-oranges...I just can't.
It makes me laugh everytime she says it.
And who doesn't need a good chuckle from time to time?
I think I'll just let her eventually figure it out on her own.
For now we'll just keep searching for that little man in the orange ;)

oh and above photo just happened to be a random "man-in-the-orange" peel on the sidewalk.
I couldn't resist.

I love the pic and I love the man in the orange but I think the man in the orange left his twig and berries on the sidewalk (is it just me or does that peel look "manly"? *wink wink, nudge nudge*)

Man in the oranges...SO cute!!

The Happy Boy says "lasterday" for yesterday, and "crossing garden" for crossing guard. No, I have not corrected him, like you, I think it's too cute.

I thought I was the only one who peels mandarins like that. I always show the peel off to anyone who happens to be nearby, oh so proud of myself.

Great post. My 2 and a half year old daughter says 'butterhearts' instead of buttertarts. It melts my butter heart every time!

you have the fuel for your own laughter meditation session right by your side. apparently children laugh an average of 200 times a day while adults barely do at all. this was a great post. she's such a cutie.

OMG that is HILARIOUS! I thought the photo and title were already pretty funny, even before I read the link with mandarin oranges..

Pumpkinpie says Opemeal too, but my sister had some great ones, and the whole family ended up picking them up. Noodies for noodles, sammidges for sandwiches, hangaburgers for hamburgers. Cuteness.

I love me some man-in-the-oranges. The sweet seedless kind. hee hee. Kids learn to say the real pronunciations all too quickly.

The random photo is priceless!
